Level of prioirty/priority bands
Applicants for council housing are placed in one of four bands according to their assessed
needs:

Band A - Emergency/top priority
|
- Tenants whose life is threatened if they remain in current home e.g. domestic violence
- Applicants with a life-threatening medical condition, which is seriously affected by current
housing
- Tenants whose home is about to be demolished or redeveloped
- Homeless applicants in priority need and in temporary accommodation. Either the landlord wants
the property back or the temporary
- Accommodation is not suitable. It is not possible to find further temporary accommodation
- Tenants of a property with two or more bedrooms willing to move to a one-bedroom home or give
up two bedrooms

Band B - Serious problem staying in current accomodation
|
- Applicants who need to move for medical or social reasons, or because of harassment or threat
of violence
- Homeless applicants that the council has agreed to re-house, currently staying in a bed and
breakfast, hostel, or temporarily with family or friends
- Applicants without a tenancy who have a dependent child, no bedroom and share other
facilities
- Applicants who need to move on from care or supported housing, and re-housing has been agreed
under a special quota scheme
- Tenants occupying larger accommodation who are willing to give up a surplus bedroom but still
need two or more bedrooms
- Tenants whose home is to be demolished/redeveloped
- Tenants whose home is statutorily overcrowded

Band C - Some identified housing need
|
- Applicants needing to move for medical reasons, or because of unsatisfactory housing conditions
such as overcrowding or unsanitary conditions
- Applicants whose need to move has been identified in a social services care plan.
- Elderly applicants moving to sheltered housing
- Homeless applicants who do not qualify for band A or B

Band D - Others
|

Ealing Council is currently in the process of reviewing the Housing Allocation Scheme which may
result in the above bandings and priority groups changing. Further details will be
provided once the new scheme has been approved.
