1. You will receive a letter of introduction from the contractor who
will carry out the works on your home.
ê
2. Surveyors will visit your home to assess how much work needs to be done.
They might take photos for their records.
ê
3. Your Resident Liaison Officer (RLO) will visit you to make
appointments and explain what will happen. At this stage, you must explain any special needs,
disabilities, allergies or illnesses that could be affected by the works.
ê
4. If you need a new kitchen, a surveyor will come back to do a detailed
design of your kitchen space. If you are planning to buy any new kitchen appliances, please tell
the surveyor at this time as once designs have finalised changes cannot be made.
ê
5. The RLO will arrange a time for you to visit the site office where
you will be able to choose bench-tops, cupboard doors and handles, as well as colours. You
have 48 hours to change your choices.
ê
6. Please inform your RLO of any holiday that you have booked or
any times that builders will not be able to access your home.
ê
7. An appointment will be made for an electrical inspection to be done
at your home.
ê
8. You will be given at least two weeks notice before work is due to start.
You will be reminded a week before and the day before. Make sure you are in to allow the builders
access to your home.
ê
9. Depending on what work needs to be done, it is expected that builders will
spend no more than four weeks at your home. They may also not be in your home everyday – your RLO
will keep you informed of appointments and progress.
