Improving your home
Building works can be noisy and dusty at times, but Ealing Homes is working closely with
the contractors to ensure any inconvenience is minimised. If you have any problems or concerns,
your
Resident Liaison
Officer is available to help.
We would like you to:
- Keep any appointments the builders make with you. If you have to cancel, please give as much notice as possible – preferably at least one working day
- Allow access to the builders and our project consultants to inspect what work needs to be done
- Remove your personal belongings from the work area
- If you are getting a new kitchen and/or bathroom, empty all the cupboards and move light furniture away from the work area. If you need help with this, your Resident Liaison Officer will be happy to help
- Remove ornaments and valuables from the rooms where the builders will be working
- Keep windows and doors open to allow paint to dry.
Allowing access
You will receive a letter two weeks before builders are due to start work. You will be sent another reminder one week before, and again the day before. If you can’t make your appointment with the contractor, please contact your Resident Liaison Officer as soon as possible.
Health and safety
Your health and safety is very important. Please take extra care when builders are working in and around your home.
Children:
- Building sites can be dangerous places. It is important you keep your children away from work areas inside and outside your home;
- Don’t let your children play with the builders’ equipment, tools, rubbish or near skip bins
- Don’t leave children under 16 unsupervised when builders are working in your home
- Remind children how important it is to stick to these rules.
Pets:
- Keep your pets away from builders’ tools and equipment, and keep them secure while the work is being carried out.
Health:
- If the building work is affecting your health, please let the Resident Liaison Officer know. They will look into what steps can be taken to help.
Beware of bogus callers
Ealing Homes wants to remind you about bogus callers. During the Decent Homes work, there
will be many tradesmen working in and around your home. All of these people will have an ID card
with their photograph on it. Never let anyone in your house without seeing this card. If you have
any doubts, do not let them in. You can always phone your Resident Liaison Officer who will be able
to confirm the contractor’s identity.
