Domestic Violence

  dom violence 2
Over half a million women a year experience domestic violence.  It can be physical, emotional or both and it affects women of all ages, race and background.

The person who abuses you may be your partner, ex-partner or a member of your family.  There are also other examples where domestic violence can occur, such as between a carer and the cared for.

The fear of homelessness is often a reason for not leaving a violent relationship.  There are options for accommodation and that might be one or more of the following:

Refuges

Places in refuges can be booked through the Antisocial Behaviour Team

Asylum Seekers

If you are concerned about your status if you leave the violence you should contact the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants or our asylum team who have a reception at the Village behind Ealing Town Hall.

Legal Matters

You may be able to get a written order from the court to protect you.

Rehousing options for Domestic Violence victims

You can ask for a transfer away from the violence.........

The Police

The police have specialist officers in a community safety unit to deal with domestic violence.........
