A County Court Judge has banned three drug taking rough sleepers, who subjected residents on the South Acton Estate to constant threats and intimidation, from setting foot on the estate. Wayne Smith, Colin Jeramiah and Paul Larch will now face arrest if they enter any part of the South Acton Estate.
The injunctions were passed at Brentford County Court on Friday 20 April 2007.
The three men were responsible for a wealth of criminal activity and antisocial behavior on the
estate. Concerned residents told how they were forced to step over discarded drug paraphernalia on
a daily basis. Drug use, intimidation and even urinating in communal areas were also endured.
The court injunctions follow months of reports from concerned residents and caretaking staff
from Ealing Homes, who manage the estate for Ealing Council.
Harps Dhaliwal from Ealing Homes said: “We worked closely with the police, gathering enough evidence to take legal action against these men. It was very difficult given that the three men were of no fixed abode. But in the end, with such strong evidence, the judge had no hesitation in granting the injunctions, which will now be enforced by the police.”
The action taken by Ealing Homes, with support from the Safer Neighbourhood Ward Team, is thought to be an unprecedented move against people who did not live on the estate in the first instance.
Mr Dhaliwal said: “We are pleased with the judge’s decision. The distress that this sort of behaviour causes cannot be underestimated and we will always work with the courts to tackle it."
