A new-look caretaking service and increased graffiti removal resources will enhance the appearance of Ealing’s council housing, according to Ealing Homes Estate Services Manager Mark Leahy.
Ealing Homes has restructured its caretaking service, introducing a new team of Senior
Caretakers who are responsible for ensuring high standards. The now sixdays- a-week service also
features a new Mobile Cleaning Team who will cover sickness and leave, and respond to extra
demand.
Mr Leahy says the restructure is in response to residents’ wanting to see a visual
improvement. “This is Ealing Homes fronting up and saying we can and we will do better. Already we
are seeing improvements in the quality of caretaking on estates and this will continue.
“At the end of this month we are sending each resident a map of the patches, with photographs
of the Senior in charge of each area. We are encouraging residents to contact their Senior directly
to discuss any issues they have so they are dealing with someone who is based on and knows the
area, rather than talking to an administrator in an office.
Ealing Homes has increased its work on removing graffiti, with four vans and a painting team
now dedicated to working on Ealing Homes-managed property. Those changes just came in last
week so we’ll be seeing a quicker turnaround in graffiti removal very soon – our target is to
remove all new graffiti within 24 hours, in line with Ealing Council.
The team will also be stepping up monitoring of contractors who carry out grounds
maintenance, litter picking, graffiti removal and street cleaning to improve standards, Mr Leahy
said.
“We are all working together to ensure improvements are made. Everyone is dedicated to
cleaning up this borough and responding to residents’ needs."
